You washed the car on Saturday and the front bumper still looks like it drove through a swarm, because it did. A wash slides over bug bodies. They sat in the sun for a week, dried into the surface, and by the time you noticed them the sponge was skating over the top.

The label calls this an enzyme based cleaner, and that is the whole idea. Soap lifts loose dirt. A crust that has dried onto the paint is past what soap can lift. An enzyme is a different tool: my reading of the label is that it goes after the organic material itself and loosens it from the surface, so the crust lets go instead of being dragged across the clear coat by a towel. That is my reading, and it stays a reading. What I have watched is the brand's own footage: a white bumper covered in dark specks, sprayed, left alone for a couple of minutes, wiped once with a microfiber, and clean.

The procedure matters more than the bottle. Spray the panel, then wait. The footage shows the bugs still sitting there right after the spray, and that is normal; the wait is where the work happens. Then wipe with a clean towel face, and keep turning the towel as it loads up. If you wipe the second it lands you are back to scrubbing, and scrubbing a dried bug into paint is how the fine scratches that show up in the sun get there.

The listing says it is suitable for paint, wax and clear coat, and for plastic, rubber, chrome, glass and mirrors, which covers a bumper, a grille and the mirror housings in one pass. It also lists tree sap, which behaves the same way: organic, dried on, past what a wash does.

The honest limit: this is a one job bottle. Sixteen ounces at $17.99, and the job is bugs and sap. Brake dust and road film are a different chemistry and need their own product, so on a car that has all three this is the first step and the wash comes after.
