You keep finding litter in rooms the cat has no reason to enter. A granule under a bare foot in the hallway. Something gritty in the kitchen at two in the morning. It gets there on paws. Litter wedges between the toes when a cat digs, then works loose a grain at a time as the cat walks, so the ones wedged tightest travel furthest.
