A normal broom moves pet hair around a hard floor in a cloud, because stiff bristles push as much air as they do hair, and hair is light enough to ride it. The pile you end up with is always smaller than the hair that was on the floor.

Rubber does not do that. These bristles grip. Instead of scattering, the fur gathers in front of the head and stays in a line, so you get it into a pan in one go rather than chasing the same drift across the room three times. It also works on low carpet and on stairs, which a bristle broom does not.

The grip cuts both ways. Hair that will not slide across the floor will not slide off the bristles either, so it collects on the head, and clearing the head is a step sweeping does not have.

The other trade is effort. The head is heavy and rubber drags, so every stroke costs more than sweeping normally does. You are exchanging speed for actually collecting the hair instead of relocating it, and that is a fair exchange only if relocating it is your current problem. A room, a hallway, a set of stairs: fine. A whole open floor every day and your shoulders will put you back on the vacuum.

Check the floor first. The grip only works where the bristle meets the surface, so a flat hard floor and low carpet are where it works. Deep texture is where it stops, because hair sitting below the surface is hair the head rides over. And this is a broom. If your real hair problem is the couch and the car seats, the handle is the wrong shape for the job.
